CHELSEA LIBRARY

Located on the corner of 10th Avenue and W 23rd Street, this lot is accessible to the housing community across the street, the high line tourists and students of nearby universities. To emulate the harsh structure of the high line, a structural concept is the center of the façade and circulation. This directly aids in highlighting the hierarchy of the book stack programs. Programs with specific acoustical needs benefit from this as they fall into the space defined by the book stack region. Daylight and ventilation aid in creating the children's space and decreasing the HVAC system within the main book stack area.
