NYIT LIBRARY

NYIT is determined to demolish their existing library standing on the Old Westbury campus. They are on the search for a new library with new aesthetic than the rest of the campus. A main focus of the campus is to encourage outdoor interaction with education. So as a part of their list of requests is an outdoor classroom and reading area. This library is to encourage education as well as student interaction. The surrounding site had two main features: a circular path that the main campus circulates around. The second feature is the topography that appears within the site allowed to be worked in. This uneven land allows for a focus feature that can interact with the site. So, in order to implicate these features into the project the design will include a circular feature within the building and on the site. As for the topography a main part of the building is a cantilever that will extend over the uneven land. By doing so not only does the building interact with the site, but that feature will be emphasized.
